Tribute to Sam Watson's Legacy

HE WAS SOMEONE WHO STOOD UP

After more than fifty years fighting for the rights of his people, the proud Wangerriburra and Birri Gubba man passed away on the 27 November  2019.

Tributes have flowed for Uncle Sam – from political leaders and community members – who has been remembered as a giant of the Brisbane activist community and an irreplaceable voice for Indigenous people.

Through his work with the Brisbane Aboriginal Legal Service in the 1990s, Mr Watson played a vital role in implementing the findings of the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody.

Thank You Sam, we keep on the fight for Justice and for Aboriginal rights.
